Longevity is woven into every piece: we offer a dedicated repair and re-dye service to extend each garment’s life. When the time finally comes, our designs are made to return gently to the earth — fully compostable, with only minimal (around 1% max) or no need to remove elements like recycled zips. I love painting and I love fashion.
I also love sculpture, drawing, story-telling, botany, chemistry, food, herbalism, philosophy, colour, learning and critical thinking.
We are many people, many characters and these develop throughout our lives. I think our lives and thoughts are not linear or one-dimensional, meaning we can seem to contradict ourselves. Our identity is not one thing, it is a multi-faceted exploration of the world.
My work is both ontological and about learning about the world. For a while it was outwardly focused on just painting as a medium of expression. Now it is about clothes too, what they can do, how they can make you feel. Painting, fashion and food are all about colour, texture, form, energy and how they make you feel.
If you use natural plant dyes and no toxic processes in making a garment, it maintains and imbues a positive energetic resonance, and this can affect you in a beautiful way. Think about how synthetic, petro-chemical based dyes can affect you. They are actually really insidious and dark.
Clothes can change how you feel about the world. Wearing natural dyes makes me feel positive and more resilient.
